What community can you walk, run, or hike to by September 1 without ever leaving Petersburg?
The further you walk the more chances you have to win great prizes including two round-trip tickets from Alaska Airlines!

We have been challenged again this year by Wrangell, Juneau and Ketchikan to a friendly competition. Bragging rights goes to the community that walks the most miles (by average miles walked/person). We rocked the competition in 2021 and are looking to continue our reign over the communities in 2024!
We’ve got this, Petersburg, they won’t beat us at this game! Once you register, join the Walk Southeast 2024 Facebook group to motivate each other, post cool pictures of your walks and hikes, and hear from all communities throughout the summer.
Tracking Mileage 2024.
This year there is an option to track your mileage on your mobile device via the My Virtual Mission app OR go it old school to track your mileage on paper. With the My Virtual Mission app, this handy app syncs to your wearable device (Garmin or Apple Watch) to track your mileage. Note Petersburg will be sponsored by Juneau Parks and Rec and your tracker will correspond to Juneau's mile markers. YOUR MILES will be added to the Petersburg totals at the end of the event, so you are entered into the local prizes as well as the Alaska Air Ticket Raffle.
If you choose to manually track miles on the paper tracker, your tracker will be emailed to print at home (.pdf format), emailed to participants beginning April 30 or available for pick up at Petersburg Parks & Rec office.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Hit the trails, go for a walk, or even jump on the treadmill between May 1 and September 1. Track all the miles you walk, run, or hike on the Walk Southeast Mileage Tracker as you go. Then submit your tracker by September 3 to be eligible for prizes.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Register now by logging in to your account, make sure to check out even though there is no charge, registration requires you to check out of your cart (registration closes on May 6 at 11:59 p.m.)
- Join the Walk southeast Facebook group, link found below
- Print or download your Mileage Tracker below beginning April 30
- My Virtual Mission app instructions will be email to you starting April 22.
- Track your miles between May 1 - September 1
- Submit Mileage Tracker by September 3 to receive a Walk Southeast sticker and be eligible for prizes
HOW TO WIN ALASKA AIRLINES MILES:
Walk Southeast. Fly Alaska! The Alaska Airlines drawing for two round-trip tickets is open to all registered Walk Southeast participants from southeast Alaska. Each participant who walks a minimum of 150 miles will receive one (1) ticket. The drawing will take place on Tuesday, September 10.
To qualify for the Alaska Airlines drawing, you must:
· Live in Southeast Alaska
· Be registered for Walk Southeast
· Walk a minimum of 150 miles between May 1 – September 1, 2022
· Submit a Mileage Tracker by September 3
HOW TO WIN MORE GREAT PRIZES:
A local drawing for our Petersburg participants will be held for the Grand Prize, 1-night stay at Raven's Roost Cabin on the Tongass National Forest. You can earn up to 12 tickets for this drawing depending on the furthest community you reach and an additional 3 bonus tickets by checking in at the designated pit-stops along the way.
